Oh, how I love to decorate for Valentine's Day.
{Pretty sure it has something to do with all of the pink hearts.}
{The white specks in my outdoor pictures would be snow falling. I'm ignoring the snow at this point in winter.}
I made this wreath to hang in my house. It was a fairly easy project, but wrapping the heart shaped part of the wreath was more time consuming than I anticipated.
Supplies:
14 inch foam wreath
8 inch foam heart wreath
wide burlap ribbon
yarn
hot glue gun and glue
To make the wreath I simply wrapped the foam circle with the burlap ribbon. Mine was purchased at Hobby Lobby over a year ago. You can find similar ribbon here, as well as several other great ribbon options. {I picked up both foam wreaths and the yarn at walmart.} I hot glued the ribbon at the beginning to the foam circle and then glued it again at the end of wrapping the entire wreath. If you go slowly, and make sure it is tight as you wrap, you should not need extra glue.
The heart was the same process as the circle wreath. This wreath is trickier because of its shape. I had to put small amounts of hot glue as I went along to make the yarn stay in place. Try to use as little glue as possible to give your yarn wrapped wreath a clean finish.
I played with several different ways to attach the heart wreath to the circle wreath. In the end I took two strips of the burlap ribbon and made loops to hang the heart wreath in the center. I used a small amount of hot glue to glue the burlap loops into place on the circle wreath.
Let me know if you make your own heart wreath, and if you come up with a different way to mount the heart to the circle wreath. I would love to see what you create!
Soooooooooooooo cute! And such a great idea! I love the heart in the center and the gray and white chevrons.
