There is a new level of love, appreciation, understanding, 

and respect that you gain for your own mother when you yourself become a mother.  

To my mother:

Thank you for caring for me. 

Thank you for loving me all of those moments when I was not easy to love.

Thank you for holding me when I cried as an infant and as an adult.

Thank you for words of love and words of correction.

Thank you for showing us with your actions that it is important to read and pray each day.

Thank you for being a wonderful grandmother who makes the miles seem not so long.

Thank you for being a wonderful grandmother who managed to make it the 9 hours to the hospital before each baby was born.

And thank you for encouraging me continue to be the best mother I can be every day.

I love you so very much, and I wish I was there to tell you so in person today.    

You are a wonderful woman.
