heart art.

This has been the winter of too many snow days!  {crazy weather}  And being stuck inside means lots of time to make a mess.

This week we created our heart art.  A great little project for the kids and grown ups.

Supplies:
canvas
acrylic paints
paint brushes
buttons
hot glue gun and glue

I gave each girl a canvas and a large assortment of brushes.  Then I filled a paper plate with all of the different red and pink acrylic paint I could find in my craft closet.  Honestly, two or three colors would work just fine.  But if you happen to have a dozen random bottles laying around it's just all the more fun.

The girls each painted their canvas and we let them dry.  Then I searched online until I found a heart shape that I liked.  I printed it off and cut it out to create a stencil.  Next we laid buttons all around the outside of the heart.  After that I carefully glued each button in place.  Please, learn from me, the queen of too much glue.  A very small amount of glue will do the job.  If you have a mini hot glue gun, I recommend you use it for this project.

They are very proud of their work and it is on our Valentine's Day mantle, which I'll be showing you tomorrow!
